BOARD NEWS
The Board
of Directors held its February board meeting on
Tuesday,
February 14, 2004,
at 71
Glen Lake Drive.
All directors were present.
NEW RULES
Regulation J, relating to architectural control has been amended. The
purpose of the change is so that we end up with adjacent doors being the
same color. Many metal doors are already 'almond' so the next metal door
should be almond too. The |
change
becomes effective 30 days after distribution of this newsletter. The new
language states:
“Existing metal
garage doors, which do not require painting, are approved as to color and
design as they exist in December 2004. Existing wooden garage doors will
be painted by the Association as necessary.
An ACC request must be submitted whenever an owner wishes to replace a
garage door. The new door will conform in color and design to existing
doors. It is intended that the color of the new door match any adjacent
door.”
PAINTING
UPDATE
Our normal
rainy winter weather has caused the final
touch up work and door painting to be postponed. This work should be done
between the
end of March and the first part of April. Specific dates will be
established for the painting of entry doors. The trim on the wood posts at
the rear of the units will not be painted.
GARDENING
AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE UPDATE
|
Spring is just around the corner, the
pollen is heavy in the air and on the ground, and replanting of some areas
of The Glen will begin. Prior to the painting of the exteriors, we pulled
out some old or dead plants. Now that the painting is essentially
complete, we can begin work on the grounds. In the past months, Rodger and
I, along with several Board members, have met with Susan McDonald-Brodey
of Property Services Garden Maintenance to discuss the grounds upkeep and
any items of concern. Our common goal is to maintain the beauty and health
of the grounds of The Glen and to establish good communications between
the Gardening Committee and Susan, her crew, and the residents of The
Glen.
In addition, the Gardening Committee is at
present taking care of the trees on the property. Clean up work has been
accomplished with the first priority to remove dead or diseased trees. We
are using Robert’s Tree Service. If there are any arborists in The Glen,
we would welcome your expertise.
Items to note:
If you
have any concerns or requests, please write us a note, include Unit #, and
contact name and phone number. Put the written request in The Glen
mailbox. We then pass this

information on to Susan or the tree service company. This also cuts
down on the time the gardeners are interrupted (while working on the
grounds) to talk to individual residents. They are contracted for a
certain number of hours per week to accomplish the work.
2.
If you hire contractors to work on your unit (carpenters, plumbers,
painters, etc.) please ask them to clean up any debris created by their
efforts. Frequently, debris from such work is being left behind garages
for the garden crew to dispose of. This takes away from the time the
garden crew is contracted to perform gardening tasks.
3.
“If your dog poops, you must scoop.” So that we may continue to
live in harmony with our neighbors, our beloved four-legged friends, and
the land, please, clean up after your dog. As I walk the grounds, I
find more evidence that folks are neglecting this important task.
Thanks for your assistance in these
matters.

any time. Vehicles so parked are subject to towing without notice.
Parking of vehicles in driveways is unsightly and discouraged. If a
vehicle is parked in a driveway, the vehicle must be parked perpendicular
to Glen Lake Drive and must not extend beyond the driveway onto Glen Lake
